Sign of the Rainbow

Our troop has recently finished the Sign of the Rainbow.  This display is the last step before we earn the sign.  Below you will see pictures and text to illustrate each of the activities we did.

World of Well-Being: Pet Care Badge

We went to the animal shelter.  Then we went to the vet and we got to look at the surgery room and how to wash animals when they have injuries.  Dr. Brillhart taught us how to give animals medicine.

World of Today and Tomorrow: Cookie Badge

We drove to the Cookie Kick-Off in Ojai. There we practiced selling cookies, tasted cookies, and wrote our opinions down.

World of the Out-of-Doors: Troop Camper Badge

For the Troop Camper Badge, we went to Skofield Park and camped their for one night.  We went on a hike, made sit-upons, did skits by the campfire, and many other extremely fun things.  In my opinion, it was one of the most fun things we did.  I learned a lot and had a wonderful time!

Junior Aid Patch

We went to Beverly La Cumbre with a brownie troop and went caroling, too, while we were there.  Our troop also helped the same brownies that went caroling with us bridge.
We went to the beach, mud flats, sand dunes, and the museum.  We built up our sit-upons and put flowers all over while the brownies bridged.

The World of People: Girl scouting in the U.S.A. Badge

We read about Juliette Low, made paper dolls, and memorized the Girl Scout Promise and Law.  We interviewed the leader and told how girl scouts help.

Girl Scouting Around the World Badge

For this badge we went on the internet and found web pages for different troops in countries around the world.  We went to a Thinking Day ceremony and represented Thailand.

The World of the Arts: Ceramics Badge

For the Ceramics badge we went to the Cabrillo Art Center.  We made an animal of our choice out of clay.  Then we glazed and fired them.  At our leader Letty's house we looked at pots and pottery books.  We had lots of fun!
