When my then wife's old Mazda 626 sports sedan suddenly died in the spring of 1997
after she had driven it for 12 years and 130,000 miles, she had a sudden
crazy moment and fell in love with a VW bus, which was 8 years old,
had 75,000 miles on the odometer and was priced higher than it had been
when it was new. We loved Cocoabear, as my daughter named the van,
even though she proved to be temperamental and costly to maintain.
Finally, after driving her for 7 years and another 100,000 miles we
passed her on to a man with two kids and the same dream we had.
